everybody home

This week has flown by and I thought of lots of things to blog but never sat down to do it. It has been a very calm week after last week, no major fights or disasters. One day this week, I ended up with 15 children and my grandson here for supper and had a wonderful time playing and decorating the tree. It always is a little uncomfortable when the birth kids find old ornaments they made when they were 4 or 5 and it reminds the adopted kids that they don't even have any pictures of themselves at that age. No baby pictures, no family Christmas or holiday memories with their birth families. I can't fix that. There are a lot of things about their past I can't fix but I can try and help them make good memories now.
I started out this morning with only one present bought. After spending one hour and a half in Walmart I was finished with all but two people. I was a woman on a mission and found a great Walmart employee that should be on Paul Harvey for her helpfulness. She stuck to me like glue and helped me find everything I was looking for. If my children will just grow up to be that sincere in all they do, I'll feel like I accomplished something. Fern will be home tomorrow, the wild elf child. She promised to cook me Indian food. She said she could, and sent the above picture to prove it. I tried to find the picture of her sleeping with the pig to put in this post but don't know what folder it is in. There is never a dull moment when she is here and we have missed her since her visit in the summer. Once again I'll try to get a family picture with everyone in it. I will slow down this week and enjoy all the blessings.
