White Christmas past

I recently watched Al Gore's film 'Inconvenient Truth' about global warming. I don't know if it is true that the earth is warming up or if it is because of pollution, but I do know that my part of Georgia is warming up. When I was little, we had snows like the one in the picture all the time. This week my kids have been barefoot and in shorts, it has felt more like time to plant peas then Christmas. I'm not complaining, I would rather live in a tropical country anyway. It just makes me realize that this world is probably winding down and we all need to be ready to go.

Yesterday I had 6 teenage boys in the yard and this afternoon, besides the 11 I already had here, 4 more teenagers/young adults showed up. My house has become the hangout for the friends of my kids and I'm thankful. This crop of teens is growing up different than the last bunch and have a much different set of friends. I have been so blessed that my children have made friends with some of the best kids I have seen in a long time and the adults in their youth groups , scouts, even employers, are some of the best people I have ever met also. It is nothing but a blessing from God that I didn't deserve but He gave me anyway because He is merciful.
I feel like Thanksgiving didn't ever get over with, I just keep finding things to be thankful for. And if the earth is warming up, I'm going to do my best to be conservation minded and not speed it up. But I'm thankful it isn't cold, I like warm sunshine.
